“Moving Through” Series

“No Parking” is the first painting I created after my mother passed away in 2018. It is about the delicate path we walk while grieving. We cannot stay on our thoughts too long, having to hop from one to another so we do not dwell, the pain of sadness often being too much. There is an open gate to escape it all and just flee it all. The funny thing is, entering the gate to escape, one discovers it’s a fence, and a trap. Grief can be a choose your own adventure type event. My rocky path often led to just being fenced in and driving in circles. But notice there is a path that goes passed the gate? Time moves forward no matter what. Do we spin circles fenced in, or do we take a slow steady path toward healing?

From this, a series of paintings evolved about the order and chaos of life, the beauty of it, and our frequent inability to see it. Vast landscapes, with dancing organic shapes celebrate the colorful world we are surrounded by while we “move through” this hectic, trauma riddled, life.

Several from the collection have been chosen to be featured as part of the “Fresh Beginnings” group show at Mission Bowling Club in San Francisco, through June 15. Click on painting for availability and pricing. Thank you for your support!
